Is your pet a smoker?
A new article about quitting has been published by the L.A. Times today, asking if people will be willing to quit smoking to spare their animal families (yep, you read that right) here is the question they ask on the top of their article:
If smokers won’t quit for their own health, or even for the health of their (human) families, will they quit for their pets?
Then they state how second hand smoking is dangerous for pets as it is for humans, well, the point here is that this is not new at all, if second hand smoking is bad for humans it is obviously bad for your pets.
My home has been smoke free for more than 3 months now and to be honest I can’t tell if my dog (a cocker spaniel) has improved her health, but I am sure helping her.
The article by the L.A. times also quotes a study performed by the American Cancer society which states that 20% of all Americans interviewed identified themselves as smokers, you know what? I think it was too hard to interview their pets…
